Metro Volunteers' Hands On Schools project took place during the week of August 4, 2007 and involved almost 1,000 volunteers in the process.
 
Metro Volunteers, Denver Public Schools, the Points of Light & Hands On Network, the Home Depot and various community members all came together to plan and implement this project on August 4 and 8 with groups of 100-150 volunteers each day who helped to prepare for the large scale event on August 9 with over 650 volunteers in attendance.

The Manual High School Hands On Schools project by the numbers:
·         400 lunches donated by Qdoba Mexican Grill
·         3,000 square feet of hallway sanded and painted
·         4 locker rooms painted
·         60 gallons of graffiti resistant paint applied to outdoor retaining walls
·         12 doors sanded and refinished
·         6 stories of stairwells sanded and repainted
·         9 trees planted, with custom sandstone tree rings
·         9 picnic tables assembled and installed for student seating
·         9 benches assembled and installed
·         50 shrubs and flowering bushes planted on school grounds
·         100 cubic yards of mulch laid
·         150 tons of red crusher finds shoveled and raked
·         1 advanced irrigation system installed for new plantings in school courtyard
·         150 cubic yards of dead foliage and garbage removed from school grounds
·         60 linear feet of mirrors installed in weight room
·         1 new community room designed and furnished
·         800 Otter Poppopsicles consumed by volunteers
·         6,000  volunteer hours used to complete project
·         2011 the year the first freshman class at Manual High School will graduate
