Position Summary: Under the direction of the Residential Director and/or supervisor, assists residential workers in implementing, supervising and assessing residential programs and provide instruction to individual residents and groups of residents.  Residents include 17-21 year old female youth living within a supportive, transitional, housing program.  Primary tasks include providing nighttime supervision/support, completing nightly routine and beginning morning routine in a home-style setting. 
 
All relationships involving matters with the residents, parents, resident representatives and agency staff are to be channeled through the Residential Director. It is the responsibility of the residential aide to provide a nurturing, caring and learning atmosphere for each of the residents.
 
Special training will be provided to the selected applicant covering behavioral management, basic skills, independent living and leadership. 
 
Qualifications:
1.                              Must be 18 years of age.
2.                              Must give proof of high school diploma or GED certificate.
3.                              Must be willing to complete training assigned to include:  First Aid, CPR, CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), *QBA/QMHA (Qualified Behavioral/Mental Health Aide)
4.                              Learn to operate equipment and devices that residents may require.
5.                              Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language.
6.                              Ability to be self motivated, as well as work in a team setting.
7.                              Ability to interact effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
8.                              Have the capacity to accept supervision and relate constructively to supervision.
9.                              Ability to make sound judgments and good decisions.
10.                         Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
 
*The applicant must also meet QBA/QMHA qualifications, in additions the ones listed above.  These qualifications will be discussed during the interview process.    
 
Physical Demands
 
Occasionally, but essentially, the employee must be able to walk, sprint/run, bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person, squat/stoop/kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, climb in/out of vehicles, lift up to 50 pounds floor to mid-trunk, push/pull items over 90 pounds on wheels over carpeted, tiled, concrete, paved, dirt or other outdoor surfaces, and carry up to 50 pounds 15 feet.
Duties and responsibilities – Essential Functions
Direct care
1.                              Train and assist residents in all daily living skills (housekeeping, hygiene, grooming, laundry, cooking, dressing, meal behavior, socialization)
2.                              Assist in implementing goals assigned to residents.
3.                              Keep residents supervised overnight.
4.                              Encourage residents to be as independent as possible.
Networking
1.                                                      Communicate with Residential Director about resident’s needs, behaviors, program, family, etc.
2.                                                      Communicate with other residential staff about residents.
3.                                                      Communicate with Residential Director about resident’s needs, behaviors, program, family, etc.
4.                                                      Relate in a positive manner to residents.
5.                                                      Relate constructively to supervision.
6.                                                      Follow directives of residential worker in charge.
7.                                                      Direct parent or youth representative concerns to the Residential Director.
Organizational skills
1.                                                      Keep home neat and orderly, ready for a tour.
Documentation
1.                                                      Resident observation notes are up to date and consistently written.
2.                                                      Resident goals are up to date and consistently documented on.
3.                                                      Morning notes are kept up to date and consistently written.
4.                                                      Fill out medical/behavioral forms as needed.
Recreational/Social activities
1.                                                      Assist in implementing a weekly activity schedule.
2.                                                      Engage residents in appropriate activities as needed.
